Migrating Pelicans

There have been more pelicans on the coast of Oregon this year than most people here have ever seen at one time. This morning we find a flock fishing in the shallows of an incoming tide, early dawn. These magnificent birds move very quickly for such large fowl, and were hard to catch on the wing, in the growing light. (Digital cameras work slowly in the half light of morning, much like Doryman!) There were easily three dozen visitors to my morning anchorage after a peaceful and restful night on the sailing vessel Mistral.
