Silent Maid Summer
Silent Maid, a gaff rigged catboat built by Workshop on the Water at Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia, PA will be touring from New York to Maine this June through October,2010. This vessel is a recreation of the original Silent Maid, designed in 1924 by Francis Sweisguth for Edwin Schoettle of Island Heights, NJ and built by Morton Johnson of Bay Head, NJ. The second Silent Maid was christened on July 14, 2009. Thomas Armstrong has published details of the new Silent Maid, including photos of her launch at 70.8%.
Designed primarily as a cruising boat, the first Silent Maid became the B-class catboat champion on the Barnegat Bay in 1925. The original boat is on display at the Independence Seaport Museum.

Oh, I really, really have to try to make it over to the upper harbor on October 2nd!
Maybe I will splurge & go for a ride on the Adirondack. Maybe my race curse won't be in effect if I am just a passenger.
You have a curse?!!? Oh, my!
You can follow her progress on this blog http://blogofthecatboatsilentmaid.blogspot.com/
Thank you for the link, John - it's now up on the main post.
Beautiful!!!
Thanks for the itinerary. Hopefully I will see her in Mystic or New York.
Matthew, I would like to say the same. Maybe this is the summer for a trip east.
