R2AK

In case you haven't heard...

Race to Alaska will begin June 2015. Do you have the physical endurance, seamanship and bulldog tenacity to navigate the 750 coldwater miles from the Lower 48 to Alaska, by paddle, sail and oar exclusively?

Then get ready for summer of 2015. It just might be the most amazing thing you've ever done.

First prize: $10,000

The race starts in Port Townsend, Washington State, June fourth, 2015.
See you there.

As some idea

Never mind the prize, never mind the racing, just to take part would be great.

So far a few teams have signed on, but by far most of the committed participants will be doing all or part of the event as a cruise rather than a race. Many local folks will be accompanying the racers across the Canadian border, into Victoria, BC, where there will be a send-off party. I don't know yet how much of the distance I will do, but I've begun preparing the boat.

Which boat are you prepping? I've been dabbling with the notion of following along in my not yet quite completed workboat cum tuglet. In fact, I proposed a late winter "warm up" in the Salt Chuck to Marty. Probably south sound. Something for boats with a roof, heater, and windows--ideally. Probably the first week in March.

A full-on rowing machine for this trip, Dan.
Tagging along in a motorboat? Hmmmm.....

Hola Enrico. Estoy seguro de que te va a gustar, a excepción de la distancia desde Italia. Buena suerte en su GIS!
