Lunch with the Coots

An informal gathering of light boats for a hot day in May. Most of these fine vessels were built by their owners, an eclectic group of boaters interested in promoting a low tech version of water sports. The Coots, or more formally the Western Oregon Messabouts can be found at the link of that name on these pages. The Coots are a hoot!

The San Francisco Pelican

Vida Nueva is a San Fransico Pelican. And what a lively paint scheme! The Pelican is a popular boat for the home builder, as it is easy to build, yet delivers safe and seaworthy performance for family sailing. I have seen groups of this design in hot competition, but never one in such hot colors!
